Bringing Care Closer to Home for Patients Across Saudi Arabia

  • 3,301 Patients served
  • 65,946 Medication packs delivered
  • 19,752 Total deliveries

Situation

Distance should not determine the quality of care a patient receives. Yet in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, geography can create significant barriers to consistent access to healthcare, particularly for patients who require specialized medications.

For patients managing rare or complex conditions, frequent hospital visits can create a significant burden. Long travel distances and limited transportation options can make it difficult to receive treatment consistently and on time.

Saudi Vision 2030 sets an ambitious standard for healthcare, including world class medical services and equitable access for citizens across the Kingdom. Meeting that ambition requires rethinking where and how care is delivered, extending appropriate services beyond hospital walls and closer to where patients live.

Solution

In partnership with King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, Axios International built a Patient Support Program (PSP) designed to bring medication delivery and home administration directly to patients across all 13 regions of Saudi Arabia.

The program combines the logistics of medication delivery with personalized patient support. Axios provides counseling, follows up with patients throughout their treatment journey, and educates patients on proper medication storage and adherence.

By bringing these services closer to patients, the model reduces the need for frequent hospital visits while helping patients receive the support they need outside the traditional healthcare setting.

The approach also creates value across the healthcare ecosystem. Patients receive care closer to home, while healthcare providers gain a scalable way to extend support without expanding their physical footprint.

Results

Between the program’s launch in February 2023 and June 2026, the Program has reached 3,301 patients across KSA, completing 19,752 deliveries and distributing 65,946 medication packs spanning 15 specialties — backed by more than 20,000 outbound patient calls. The program now covers 100% of Saudi Arabia’s regions, demonstrating how remote care can extend access beyond the hospital and bring personalized support closer to patients.

Beyond the numbers, the program has measurably lightened the load on the healthcare system: fewer hospital visits, fewer readmissions, reduced infection exposure, and stronger continuity of care. It stands as a working model of Saudi Vision 2030 in practice. Proof that public-private collaboration can turn an ambitious national goal into consistent, high-quality care for patients who need it most.
