Mariana Rodrigues, Director, Communications 

Mariana provides communications strategy development and execution leadership to local Axios teams undertaking healthcare access initiatives in Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East.

With more than a decade of specialized experience working with private companies, nonprofit organizations, multilateral and bilateral organizations and governments, she brings a unique cross-sector global perspective to the development and execution of in-country communications and advocacy campaigns to support healthcare access initiatives, including donation and cost-sharing patient assistance programs. Mariana has also contributed to several peer-reviewed publications on such access programs and has been published in PLOS One and BMC Public Health.

Prior to Axios International, she was a Vice President at Fleishman-Hillard International Communications where she managed patient awareness and education campaigns across disease areas including diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis among others. In this role, Mariana also supported the launch of the Millennium Foundation, a UNITAID-backed innovative financing initiative to help eradicate life-threatening contagious diseases, and co-managed the media relations team for SECOM (the Secretariat for Social Communications for the Presidency of Brazil). Prior to FleishmanHillard, Mariana worked at BioSector 2, a biotechnology communications company.

Mariana holds a Master’s degree (MS) in Global Marketing Communications and
Advertising from Emerson College (Boston, MA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Public
Relations, Spanish and Business from Pennsylvania State University.
Originally from Brazil, she is fluent in Portuguese and English.
